Camille Jeboult (b.1970) first began working with her body by training in the Korean martial art of Hapkido, when she was only nineteen. She attained a black belt level in 1994 and began teaching the following year. She earned her second-degree black belt in 1997.

"I thrived on the discipline. My disinterest in the competitive aspect of martial arts allowed me to focus instead on developing my fitness, flexibility, speed and self-defence. I loved it."

Camille discovered yoga in the mid 90s. She wanted something more harmonious, but as equally disciplined and beneficial for her body.

"I love the body-awareness that yoga offers. The freedom of movement that comes from within a disciplined framework is very liberating. I used to hold a great deal of tension in my body, but yoga has taught me not only how to release it, but also how to not let it build up in the first place!"

• Yoga Teaching Diploma (2002)
• Second-degree black belt in Hapkido (1997)
• Arts Degree in Humanities (1997)

Apart from teaching, Camille has organised film festivals, worked in disability advocacy, and done her share of the good old time-honoured work of waitressing. She has had the freedom to work in many different locales and with a vast array of people.

As a practicing Buddhist (in the Tibetan tradition), the universal principles of harmony and ethics are woven into her classes. She has given talks on Buddhism basics at Langri Tangpa Centre. In 2006 she took time out to have a baby and currently teaches yoga part-time. She continues to develop professionally by participating in intensive training sessions from visiting senior yoga teachers.

About Lynda Jones

I was first introduced to the magic of massage and yoga over a decade ago while working as a court reporter and became inspired to begin a journey of healing and growth in my own life.  My ongoing commitment to personal growth has led me to experience and study a wide range of healing therapies including Ka Huna Bodywork (6) and Reiki II. I am a qualified yoga teacher with certificates from British School of Yoga (2001) and Radiant Light Yoga (2004).  My classes are for all levels from beginners to more experienced.  I am also inspired and influenced by the Svaroopa style of yoga and Viniyoga. I am a level 2 member of the Yoga Teachers' Association Australia. Since 1996 I have been facilitating fun and informal workshop sessions for various community based organisations including basic massage techniques and stress management for high school students, as well as performing pregnancy massage and teaching baby massage to young parenting groups (Young Parents Program, Brisbane Youth Service).

That led from 2002 into teaching yoga, relaxation classes and providing massages for a number of community based organisations (Othilas, Coolibah, WWild SVP, YPP, BYS, New Farm Neighbourhood Centre) for the guests and clients (and in some cases the support workers) that access their services and programs. These organisations support women who are homeless or at risk; are pregnant or parenting; self harm; have eating disorders; have substance abuse issues; are survivors of abuse; have physical and/or intellectual disabilities, psychiatric illness and the whole range of other issues that affect women. I also work with personal yoga clients; have taught corporate yoga classes; teach yoga in various gyms and healthclubs, as well as teaching public classes and running yoga workshops and retreats.

I am passionate about and have a continuing personal commitment to yoga and personal development.  Early 2006 I was fortunate enough to travel to Chennai, India to take part in a 4 week course at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram exploring yoga as a therapy, Viniyoga and vedic chanting.  I am also greatly looking forward to studying Foundations of the Svaroopa style of yoga and Svaroopas Embodyment Yoga Therapy developed by Rama Birch later this year. However, the most rewarding yet challenging role I have is that of Mummy to two amazing children, Tya Rose (9) and Darcy (7) and sharing this experience with my husband and best friend, Paul.  Yoga and massage have been catalysts for incredibly positive and empowering changes in my personal and working life.  My wish is to inspire others to explore their own potential through the amazing energy of breath, yoga and bodywork, continuing my own journey, and keeping it real....

KYLA SORENNE    I began a short career in professional dance at the age of 11 which continued until I was 20. By the time I finished dancing I had many injuries, including a broken left hip, which was also dislocated at a different time, lower lumbar injury, whiplash and the list goes on. I began doing Ashtanga Yoga at Bondi Beach Ashtanga Yoga Shala. I was very used to being able to accomplish dance positions and found my Yoga beginning a very frustrating and humbling experience, (probably just what I needed.)  However Yoga worked! Yoga did begin to correct my alignment, strengthen my body and relieve the pain. I was hooked!

Around the age of 22 I became a Therapeutic masseuse and began working for the Observatory Hotel in The Rocks, Sydney. I continued to dabble in the Arts trying my hand at acting with only small success. I then decided to travel and like a gypsy went to as many places as my budget could afford and found myself in Vancouver, Canada for 5 years working as a masseuse for the Sheraton Wall Center and practicing Yoga. There are many wonderful Yoga teachers in Vancouver and I decided to study Hatha Yoga and Zen Meditation with an Israeli woman called Efat at The Prana Yoga Studio. And try my hand at Bikrams which is very popular there as it is so darn cold!! After coming back to Australia I decided I would like to become a teacher. My yoga influences are Ashtanga, Hatha, Iyengar and I have developed a Chakra Yoga practice to align and work with the subtle energies of the body as well. I have also fallen in love with Vipassana Meditation which I find works well for me.I look forward to meeting you in class. Namaste................Kyla ..

Malcolm has been practising Iyengar yoga for over five years, beginning in Lennox Head, New South Wales, then in Canberra and now in Brisbane.  He is currently undertaking Iyengar tacher training with Senior Iyengar teacher Simon Marrocco.  Malcolm is also currently training for a diploma in Massage Therapy.

 Fiona Heffell

In 1974, when Fiona was 19 years old and living in London she was given a book on yoga, she started to practise the postures in the book because she thought it would keep her fit! Fiona practised away for many years on her own. It took a move to Australia from Scotland in 1978 for her to find her teacher, Swami BhaktiMurti Saraswati, and the school of yoga that she felt most at home with, which is Satyananda style hatha yoga. It is a very gentle yoga with a strong emphasis on the breath, the breath being the bridge from our conscious mind to the subconscious mind and beyond. Fiona is also strongly influenced by the preciseness and correct alignment of Iyengar yoga, and so she blends the two together. Fiona says, “the blending of the strong poses of Iyengar and the gentleness of Satyananda yoga helps to brings out the “calm warrior”.

Over the years Fiona has studied and attended many retreats with her Guru and has had many initiations into Tantra practises (Tantra meaning the expansion of consciousness, closing the gap between the inner and outer world) and so she brings this knowledge and understanding to her classes. Fiona’s classes focus on basic postures with much emphasis on movements that ensure development of core stability and good alignment. They are suitable for beginners and also cater for those of us who are entering our “wisdom” years.  These classes are slow which allows time to develop more subtle awareness of the body breath and mind.
