Mala Beads or Buddhist Prayer beads are traditionally used to count the number of mantra's during meditation. They often comprise of 108 beads, and can be made with precious stones or wood. 108 is a significant number for many reasons. Some associate the possibility of enlightenment with taking only 108 breaths a day while in deep meditation. Others connect the number’s significance to the heart chakra, as there is said to be 108 energy lines leading to it, one of which is believed to be the path to self realisation. These beautiful mala beads are Vaijanti mala beads. Vaijanti literally translates to, “the garland of victory”. It is considered in Hinduism to be Lord Vishnu’s garland. Vaijanti seed are said to come from the forests of Braj where the god and goddess eternally make love. The beads are smooth and a slightly enlongated in shape. The seends have a polished finished and a natural hole through the middle.
